A solitary cobblestone path stretched into the darkness, illuminated by a single streetlamp. It was a cold December night in the quiet town of Monsaraz, Portugal. I had been sick for most of my stay, but now, the crisp air, though biting, felt strangely invigorating.
Alina and I had benefited from mild autumn weather by enjoying a long walk in the Kalmthoutse Heide, Belgium. We had packed lunch, which we ate sitting atop a fallen tree just beyond this view. It was a beautiful day.
